Separately, but on a related note, it bothers me how depriving a person of their freedom is an extreme form of punishment we dish out far too often. Prisons are used to shunt inconvenient social problems out of sight and narratives around retribution distract us from addressing structural inequalities that ought to be at the heart of our concern for 'justice' in society. Even individuals who have committed violent crimes and may pose safety risks to the public need support, not punishment and exclusion.
Probably preaching to the choir if you're reading my blog, eh? I feel drawn to doing my thing in fuct institutions 🧡 Education will always be my first love, but "criminal justice" has a hold on me too. Lets end punitive approaches to addressing harms in society and demand restorative and transformative justice for all.

Guys, I'm concerned about *a lot* of things going on in the world, and I feel bad for how I struggle to participate in social activism for any high-profile cause--for too many reasons--none of which seem that important to me tbh. So, peace & love to everyone, but free Palestine now. I think I feel hugely embarrassed for the human race to say it because it's already on everyone's lips and it's SO FUCKING OBVIOUS but sadly it still needs to be said and I would want Palestinians to know I stand with them. ❤️🩹🇵🇸🌏☮️
